Just heard that Bloomsbury has accepted the book proposal for which I successfully submitted a chapter prospectus earlier this year. It’s edited by Brian W. King, sociolinguistics professor at University of Hong Kong. My chapter will be based on additional analysis of my dissertation data in line with the book’s remit: “systematically extending (Michel Foucault’s) biopolitics as a conceptual and analytic resource, while conversely offering biopolitical scholarship a robust account of language as a site and medium of governance.” The book’s provisional title is Sex, gender and biopolitics: Discourse and the regulation of intimate life.
